Heathrow calls itself the UK's most valuable port, and by its own figures more than a quarter of UK trade by value passed through the airport in 2025. From Hayes & Harlington, Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 is the next stop on the Elizabeth line, and Hillingdon's planners include Hayes town centre and the Hayes and West Drayton corridor in the Heathrow Opportunity Area. For a lot of firms here the customer sits somewhere in the airport's supply chain, and those buyers compare suppliers quickly: a freight buyer wants routes, modes, customs and specialist handling spelled out before asking for a price. On the KAM Freight site those answers sit on the service and destination pages, and the quote request is the main path through the site, so a shipper can get started without ringing the office.
The London Plan designates the Hayes Industrial Area as a Strategic Industrial Location, and Hillingdon marks out smaller employment sites around Pump Lane, Millington Road and Dawley Road. If you trade from one of those units, your customer is usually another business with a deadline, such as a contractor who needs a part or a shipper who needs a collection this week. That buyer may well be on a phone in a van, so the page has to load on a weak signal, show what you stock or make in enough detail for a buyer to shortlist you, and ask for the job details up front so your reply can include a price. Decoration that slows any of that down costs enquiries.
Hayes is not only sheds and yards. Stockley Park, between Hayes, Yiewsley and West Drayton, is an office estate just north of junction 4 of the M4, and the Old Vinyl Factory on Blyth Road, where EMI once pressed records, now holds offices, homes and a secondary school. Businesses selling into those buildings deal with corporate buyers who check a supplier's website before the first meeting. For them the site should answer the procurement questions early: the registered company details, who the named people are, what you are accredited or insured for, and who looks after the account once it is won.
